Getting started

How do I set up my account?+
After you sign up, your dashboard shows a getting-started checklist tailored to your trade — set your pricebook, add your team, connect payments, add your first client, and send your first quote. You can hide or bring it back anytime from Settings → Company.
Does Anvil work for my trade?+
Yes — Anvil is built for cleaning, landscaping, construction, pressure-washing, carpet, pest control, and property management. Your services, pricing, quoting, and intake questions are tailored to the trade you pick.
Can I switch trades or run more than one?+
You can change your trade in Settings → Company. Each business you own is kept separate; use the business switcher at the top of the sidebar to move between them.

Booking, quotes & clients

How do customers book or request a quote?+
Turn on the public booking page in Settings → Controls. You get a shareable link (and a branded booking site at /s/your-slug) where customers pick a service, enter their address, and request a time — it lands in your dashboard as a lead or pending job.
How does quoting work?+
Build a quote from your pricebook in minutes. Amounts are computed on the server from your configured rates, so a quote is always priced consistently. Send a branded link the client can accept, e-sign, and (optionally) pay a deposit on.
Why don’t my customers see my cost or margin?+
By design. Cost, markup, and margin are operator-only and never appear on anything a customer sees — quotes and proposals only ever show client-facing prices.

Payments & invoicing

How do I get paid?+
Connect Stripe (and optionally Square) under Integrations. Turn finished work into an invoice in one click; clients pay by card or ACH from a secure link. You can also save a card on file and charge it automatically with the client’s opt-in.
Is my billing separate from how I charge customers?+
Yes. Your Anvil subscription (Settings → Plan) is completely separate from the payments you collect from your own customers through Stripe/Square.

Team & field

How do I add my crew?+
Add team members under Team → Crew and assign roles. Crews can clock in/out, capture before/after photos, and run checklists from the field — including offline, syncing when signal returns if you enable the installable app.
Can I control who sees customer contact info?+
Yes — turn on PII masking in Settings → Controls to hide contact details from limited roles, and control whether crews can see gate/alarm codes per visit.

Your data & account

Is my data private from other businesses?+
Always. Tenant isolation is enforced at the database level, not by app logic — every business’s data is walled off so it can never be read or written by another. See our Security page for details.
How do I clear out test data and start fresh?+
Owners can reset client/operational data from Settings → Danger Zone. It shows exactly what will be cleared and what is kept (your team, settings, pricebook, integrations), and requires you to type your company name to confirm. It only ever affects your own business.
How do I cancel or change my plan?+
Manage your subscription from Settings → Plan — upgrade, switch, or open the billing portal to update your card or cancel.
